Birth Doula Services

Birth is a challenging adventure, sometimes even scary. With continuous labor support from a birth doula, you can set aside your doubt and fear. As your birth doula I will do everything in my power to help you cope with labor, support your partner when present, be your advocate with the medical staff, and inform you of your options.  Before retaining my services we will meet for a consultation, this is free of charge and gives us the opportunity to decide whether we will work together during your birth. If you decide to retain my services, we will complete the contract and schedule your first prenatal appointment.

• Once you have retained my services, you will receive two prenatal visits.
• During the first appointment, we will talk about your beliefs, comfort level, health and birth history, and begin to develop your birth plan.
• During the second appointment we will practice some comfort techniques, discuss positioning, and review your birth plan.
• I will be available to you via phone or e mail to answer any questions you may have between 9am and 9pm except in special circumstances.
• I will be on call 24/7 for two weeks prior to and two weeks following your estimated due date.
• I will be with you for the duration of your labor.
• I will remain with you for up to two hours after the birth of your child.
• I will contact you the day following the birth to check on you and the baby and to set up your first postnatal appointment.
• You will receive two postnatal appointments unless otherwise indicated by you or by circumstances.
• The first visit will be within your first few days of returning home from the hospital. We will talk about your birth, discuss your feelings, how the baby is doing, and anything else you need to discuss.  I will help you with breastfeeding if you like.
• The second visit is just a final wrap up to tie up any lose ends you may have.
